It is used in every auspicious work. Ever since this sweet got the GI tag, its demand has increased even more. This is the reason that now the supply is done online from here to abroad. Now Khaja, which has made its identity in foreign countries, is being supplied abroad at the rate of Rs.5100 per kg.
Two types of khaja are being made in Silav. There are sweet and salty among them. Khaja is made for every class in variety of pure ghee, dalda and refined. Khaja is made and sold at more than 100 shops in Silav. Khaja made from Dalda is sold at ₹ 180 per kg, ₹ 240 made of refined ghee and ₹ 900 per kg made of pure ghee at famous shops.
Khaja shopkeeper Sanjeev Kumar told that his forefathers had set up a khaja stall in Mauritius. The people there liked it very much. At that time he was honored with an international award. After this, GI tag was received 3 years back on the initiative of the Industries Department. Since then online booking of Khaja was started through an app (Kali Shah Khaja). Then after contacting the courier company, the work of sending Khaja abroad started.
Now this Khaja is being delivered to many other countries including America. He told that this Khaja is being sent abroad at the rate of 5100 per kg. It takes a large number of artisans to prepare Khaja. It is prepared from white flour, sugar, pure ghee or refined. Its specialty is that there are 52 layers inside it. Despite this, there are more than 40 pieces of Khaja in 1 kg.
